Professor Tim Bale, Exoneration draws curtain on Tory chairman

18 August 2016

Andrew Feldman’s exoneration this week in the Conservative party bullying scandal draws the curtain down on the former party chairman’s political life. One of David Cameron’s oldest friends — the pair met at Oxford where they played tennis — and most loyal backers, Lord Feldman stepped down from his role last month. “Lord Feldman has managed not to tread on anyone’s toes, so obviously he is a fairly skilled operator in the internal bureaucratic dynamics of the party,” Professor Tim Bale said. Lord Feldman’s main omission, he added, had been to fail to overhaul the party’s IT systems — something that inhibits on-the-ground campaigning and organisation: “Many Tory activists say that this is a problem that has been ongoing for years and years.”
