Dr Françoise Boucek speaks to BBC 5 Live about the appointment of conservative Edouard Philippe as French Prime Minister: “The appointment of the new prime minister, Edouard Philippe, is really quite a smart pre-emptive move before the parliamentary elections next month which will require the formation of a coalition government and need the support of other parties to form it. But his best bet is to draw from the support of the centre-right, as those were the one’s behind him against Marine Le Pen during the elections.”
