Birmingham Northfield, a modest residential area on the southwest border, has backed Labour for the last 25 years, but it now seems that some people may vote Conservative, according to a New York Times article. Professor Tim Bale comments: “Labour’s working class base is crumbling underneath it. It’s shrinking anyway as the economy becomes more services and more middle class. And even in that shrinking part, views on immigration, law and order and education values are very different.”
