Professor Tim Bale, The crisis in Conservatism

Professor Tim Bale speaks to BBC Radio 4 about whether the divisions in the Conservatives is part of a temporary crisis, or symptomatic of deeper problems in the party. Professor Bale said: “The crisis the Tory party is facing today is probably one of the worst since 1945. There is a toxic brew of personal ambition, ideological divisions and electoral panic. That said, this isn’t the only crisis the Conservatives have faced in the post-war era. While some left them suffering for decades, others they got through quite quickly.”
