Theresa May, whose office heralded a meeting last week with President Donald Trump as a diplomatic success, is facing pressure at home over her efforts to strengthen ties with the new US administration. Professor Tim Bale said there were risks to wooing the new US president. “The commitment she got out of him—if he honours it—to NATO was really, really important…on the other hand she might have got that without having her photo taken of him holding her hand, which I think is going to come back to haunt her,” he said.
