John Grant (B.A. Wilfrid Laurier), (M.A. Queen’s, Kingston)
After completing a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science at Wilfrid Laurier University, my research interests shifted to political theory and philosophy while studying for my Master’s Degree in Political Studies at Queen’s University.
In my current research I am theorising a set of concepts available to dialectical thought for the purposes of political criticism and social theory. Here I focus predominately on thinkers such as Hegel, Marx, Adorno, and Bourdieu.
My work also looks at thinkers and approaches that pose challenges to a dialectical perspective.
While maintaining a productive dialogue between dialectics and thinkers such as Nietzsche, Althusser, Foucault, and Derrida, my aim is to demonstrate how dialectics possesses a superior capacity for making determinate political interventions through theory.
